How it works

A plant of your own, a year from the field.

Adopt a lavender plant on a family farm in Provence for one year. Name it, follow it through the seasons in letters and photos, and receive boxes of lavender oil, soap and dried lavender made from its field.

  1. Choose a plan

One plant, a plot of four or a row of twelve — each with its own rhythm of boxes through the year.

  2. Adopt in a minute

Just your email and, if it’s a present, who it’s for. No account to create.

  3. Name your plant

Afterwards you give your lavender a name and receive its certificate. Do it straight away, or later from your welcome email.

  4. Follow the year

Letters and photos from the field through the seasons — and boxes made from its lavender arriving at your door.

What’s in the box

The season, in things you can hold.

Each box brings lavender products made from your field — essential oil, soap, dried lavender and seasonal pieces.

Shortly after you adopt

Welcome box

Made from the previous harvest — lavender that has already been distilled and dried — so the field reaches you long before your plant flowers.

Autumn, after the July harvest

Harvest box

Made from the new season’s lavender, once it has been cut, distilled and dried.

Your year with the field

From the day you name it to the day it comes home.

Lavender keeps its own calendar. Here is what a year looks like when part of the field is yours.

  1. A lone tree among lavender rows
    When you adopt

    A name and a place

You name your lavender and receive its certificate. Your welcome box sets off with lavender from the last harvest.

  2. A stone hut at the edge of a lavender field
    Winter

    The field rests

Frost on the rows, roots working underground. The plants are pruned into their round winter shape, and the first letter arrives.

  3. A Provençal farmhouse beside the rows
    Spring

    New green

The plateau wakes up silver-green and the rows fill out week by week. We send photos so you can watch it happen.

  4. Baskets of freshly cut lavender
    July

    Purple, then harvest

The rows turn violet, the bees arrive, and the stems are cut at their peak. You get the photos from harvest morning.

  5. Lavender bundles hung up to dry
    Autumn

    The season comes home

The oil is distilled and the stems dried. Your harvest box arrives — made from your field’s new lavender.

Meet your plant

A name, a place, and letters from the field.

After you adopt, you give your lavender its name. Through the year, letters and photos tell you how it — and its row — are doing.

The first purple, and a visit from the bees

Dear Sarah, Petit Soleil was the first in Row 7 to turn purple this week — a few days ahead of its neighbours, which did not go unnoticed. The bees found it before we did. If the wind stays quiet, the cutting starts soon. We’ll send you photos from that morning; we wish we could send the smell.

The farm

A family farm on the Valensole plateau.

Your adoption is connected to lavender grown by a family farm in Haute-Provence, where the rows are pruned in winter, flower in early summer and are cut in July. We will introduce the farmer and the field properly — with their own words and photographs — before the founding season begins.

Our story

Questions

Good to know.

What exactly am I adopting?

A one-year adoption of a lavender plant (or a plot or row, depending on your plan) on our partner farm in Provence. You name it, follow it in letters and photos, and receive the boxes of your plan. It’s an experience, not a purchase of land or plants — you don’t own the plant, the soil or the harvest.

What comes in the boxes?

Lavender products such as essential oil, soap and dried lavender, made from the field. The selection changes with the season, so the products shown are examples; if something isn’t available we replace it with an item of similar value.

When do the boxes arrive?

Your welcome box ships shortly after you adopt and is made from the previous harvest. The harvest box follows in autumn, after the July harvest. Other boxes follow your plan — twice a year, every season or every month. Dates are estimates and depend on the season.

When does ordering open?

We are preparing the founding season with our partner farm. Until ordering opens you can reserve your plan for free: nothing is charged, and we email you first, with your founding price, when adoptions begin.

What is the founding price?

The prices shown are founding prices, locked for your first year. Before your plan renews we email you the renewal price at least 30 days ahead, and you can cancel before it renews.

Can I give it as a gift?

Yes. Choose “Give as a gift”, add their name, a message and the day they should find out. You get a printable certificate, and they receive a welcome letter on that day.

Can I cancel?

Yes, anytime — cancelling stops the next renewal. Within 14 days of purchase you can cancel for a full refund if no box has shipped yet. The details are in our Terms.

Can I visit the field?

We’re working on it. Adopters will be the first to hear when visits are possible.
